Self-Custodial Wallet Setup

How to Scan & Pay (QR)

  • OPEN the Peanut app and verify with biometric passkey (Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode).
  • TAP "Scan" and point your phone camera at a MercadoPago QR (Argentina) or Pix QR (Brazil).
  • The app reads the dynamic QR metadata — amount, merchant, and reference are auto-filled.

GENERAL QUESTIONS.

Yes. Peanut is a mobile-first native app — there is no web interface or PWA. Users download the app, create a self-custodial ERC-4337 smart account secured by biometric passkeys (Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode), and can immediately send, receive, deposit, and scan QR codes. Recipients of Peanut Links do NOT need the app, they can claim funds via WhatsApp/SMS/Telegram link.

Merchants are NOT directly supported by Peanut. When a Peanut user pays at a MercadoPago QR (Argentina) or Pix QR (Brazil) merchant, the settlement is handled instantly by the local rail (MercadoPago or Pix), not by Peanut. Peanut converts the user's digital dollars to local currency at a live market rate at the moment of payment and delivers it through the existing payment infrastructure. The merchant receives local currency (ARS/BRL) instantly through their normal MercadoPago or Pix account.

Merchants are NOT directly onboarded by Peanut. When a Peanut user scans a MercadoPago QR (Argentina) or Pix QR (Brazil), the settlement is handled instantly by the existing local rail. The merchant receives local fiat (ARS/BRL) in their MercadoPago or Pix account — no different from any other customer payment. Peanut charges the merchant nothing on top of their existing MercadoPago/Pix fees. In the future, Peanut plans to launch its own merchant platform with lower fees than Visa/Mastercard.
